I wish I knew it BEFORE I started this book. Shame on me! I read a lot of fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen, but I don't remember this one!
Because THIS book is a remake/re-telling of [b:The Red Shoes|1291920|The Red Shoes|Hans Christian Andersen|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1257364932s/1291920.jpg|1281012].
Please, if you don't know it if you don't remember it, read it before. It is very short, here is a link for reading it online:

You can better understand the story and you will for sure like the version of [a:John Stewart Wynne|102720|John Stewart Wynne|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1362351964p2/102720.jpg] much more. It's a a work of art, a very sophisticated prose, not always easy stuff to read-it's terrifying and shocking, bizarre and very direct- but it's also a very sensual and compelling prose, an excellent example of a literary gay fiction.
We're witnessing how grief, weakness, pain, the attempts to find a replace for something that can't be replaced have been into a spiral of growing self-destruction.
While reading I was thinking that this MADNESS could mean either a crap or a masterpiece. I made my decision. Now is your turn.
